Music is an integral part of the life of the school, with a vibrant school choir and a new school orchestra. All of our children sing a wide variety of songs regularly, especially during weekly singing assembly. Our class music lessons are incorporated into our topics where possible. We encourage pupils to take part in a variety of musical activities.
Recorder lessons are given to all children in Year 3. These are provided for free and the children are given a recorder to use and practise on. The lessons are during the school day and make up part of their music lessons. This year we are also providing djembe drumming lessons to all children in Year 4.
If your child is interested in learning a musical instrument please complete the BYMT application form below and return it to the school office. This will then be forwarded to the appropriate music teacher. Music lessons are available for Children in Year 3 - 6 for Piano, Clarinet, Flute, Guitar, Trumpet, Violin, Cello, for which a charge is made by the relevant Music Teacher.
Music lessons are available to children in Year 3-6 for the following instruments:
Please collect or an application form from the school office (down load a form from this website) if your child is interested in having lessons. Please return the form to the school who will pass it onto the BYMT (Bromley Youth Music Trust).
You will be contacted directly by the music teacher when a place becomes available. The office does not hold a waiting list at school. If you would like to contact the BYMT directly, please phone 0208 467 1566. If you are happy to have group lessons the waiting time maybe shorter.
If your child is offered a place, the lessons take place during the school day (apart from drums which are after school on a Monday). Your child will be allocated a lesson on the same day of each week. The lesson time will change to ensure they don’t miss the same lesson each week. It is the responsibility of the child to turn up on time. Timetables for all music lessons are available outside the music room in school at the end of the Year 2 Corridor.
