Accident and Illness
If your child is away because of illness or other reasons it is necessary to report absence on the first day on our answerphone or by email and provide a letter on his or her return. All infectious diseases must be notified.
Children must not bring medication into school. Only prescribed medications may be kept in school. Asthma pumps are kept in class and in KS2 the children are expected to administer by themselves. The school office has an emergency inhaler that will be used if necessary, provided parental agreement has been received. Other prescribed medication is kept in the school office. Cough/throat sweets are not allowed in school.
If your child requires antibiotics four times a day, a dose can be left with the school office staff accompanied by written instructions. The office staff will oversee the administration of medication. If you wish to discuss any special arrangements please speak to the School Office Manager.
When a child is absent due to vomiting and/or diarrhoea, please ensure that he/she is symptom free for at least 48 hours before returning to school.
Please refer to our full policy “Medical matters and the administration of medication”.
