Democracy

  • We aim to provide pupils with a broad general knowledge and promote respect
  • We aim to teach pupils how they can influence decision making through the democratic process
  • We aim to give our children information on the advantages and disadvantages of democracy and how it works in Britain
  • We aim to encourage all pupils to become involved in decision making and ensure they are listened to in school
  • We aim to organise visits to develop this area
  • We aim to hold elections so pupils learn how to argue and defend points of view

  • We aim to teach pupils how public services operate and how they are held to account

Rule of Law

  • We aim to ensure all children know the school rules and expectations
  • We aim to make school rules and expectations clear and fair to all
  • We aim to help pupils distinguish between right and wrong
  • We aim to teach pupils about the law, to have respect for the law and the reasons we have the law
  • We aim to teach pupils that the law helps to protect us
  • We aim to work with our local Police officers within school
  • We aim to teach pupils about civil and criminal law and discuss how this may differ from Religious laws
  • We aim to demonstrate a fair approach and resolving conflicts

Individual Liberty

  • We aim to support pupils to develop their self esteem, self confidence and self knowledge
  • We aim to encourage all pupils to take responsibility for their actions
  • We aim to allow and encourage children to express their views
