Music in the Community

The musical ensembles of Hayes Primary School are some of the most visible and powerful representatives of our school and its community. The choir and orchestra in particular have done many different events around our local area and beyond, in both fundraising and competitive contexts.

The orchestra celebrated their achievements last summer by performing in a charity concert in the playground. This concert raised money for the orchestra and enabled us to buy more new music to take the ensemble to even greater music-making.

The choir performs in many different venues for many different causes over the academic year. A favourite event in the Hayes community is the Hayes Village Fair, which the choir performs at annually. The choir also performs at other community events, such as the Christmas Lights Switch-on at a local pub, and a Year 6 Christmas carol performance at the Glades shopping centre for a local charity, The Maypole Project. The choir also participates in the wider choral community by singing in Young Voices at the O2 in London, and the more local Beckenham Festival competition.
