Music
Music is a prominent and celebrated part of life at Hayes Primary School. Children benefit from high-quality classroom music lessons alongside a wide range of opportunities beyond the school day (please see the Clubs page for full details of extra-curricular provision).
We believe that music plays a vital part in school life as it is crucial to developing the whole child, alongside having a powerful impact on academic development. Performing with others builds self-confidence, while the challenges of learning to sing or play an instrument foster resilience, perseverance and courage. Group music-making strengthens friendships across classes and year groups, uniting pupils through a shared musical identity and a common goal. Research consistently highlights its positive influence on brain function, concentration and overall educational attainment. The confidence, resilience and sense of belonging nurtured through music contribute to happy, motivated pupils who are ready to learn across the curriculum.
Music also provides every child with the chance to shine in an area where talent, commitment and passion are celebrated, and where those who fully embrace the music pathway can truly excel as young musicians.
Above all, music brings joy. The enthusiasm, smiles and excitement seen in our lessons and performances are clear evidence of its value. For these reasons, we proudly continue to devote time, energy and resources to sustaining a vibrant and ambitious musical culture at Hayes Primary School.
