Homework

At Hayes Primary School, homework is an important part of consolidating learning and building positive study habits. All children will receive homework each week, with the amount and type of homework varying appropriately by age and stage.

Every child will have a homework book
Homework is sent home on Fridays and should be returned by the following Wednesday
Homework tasks will differ between year groups and may focus on a range of curriculum areas, depending on what children would benefit from practising or revisiting

Reading Books

Changed every 3 or 4 days.

From the moment children begin taking books home in Reception, they are expected to read out loud to an adult every day for 10–15 minutes. This daily reading is a non-negotiable part of homework for every child, in every year group and plays a crucial role in developing fluency, comprehension and confidence.
