BYMT Music Lessons

Music lessons are available to children in Year 3-6 for the following instruments:

  • Piano (year 2 upwards)
  • Guitar
  • Brass [Trumpet, Horn, Trombone and Tuba]
  • Flute
  • Cello
  • Clarinet
  • Saxophone
  • Drums
  • Violin

At Hayes Primary, we are proud to offer a range of private music lessons to all pupils.

Currently, instruments being taught privately are piano, guitar, drums and a range of other string, brass and wind instruments. We advise that typically, piano works really well for children in Year 2 upwards and other instruments more suitable for older children.

Children learn music in all year groups and begin to learn how to play an instrument in Year 2, where they play the pBuzz, a young version of the trumpet and as they progress through the school, these skills are developed through other instruments in KS2 such as ukuleles and recorders.

Children in all year groups are welcome to learn to play an instrument. BYMT provide teachers who are experts in their field and highly experienced staff who have taught music to many other pupils of different ages.

If your child is interested in learning an instrument, please visit the BYMT website. All requests and enquiries can be made here and children can learn instruments during the school day.

Lesson times vary and you can choose to have a 1:1 private lesson or as part of a pair. There are a selection of options and times available.

To register your interest, please visit BYMT.co.uk and access the request forms through the following links:

BYMT.co.uk - Children & Young People - Learn an Instrument - Find School (enter Hayes Primary) then register interest based on the instrument.

Having music lessons also opens up opportunities such as joining the school orchestra once the children reach Year 5.
